Jennifer Freer Manis, a special education school at a Buncombe County Schools middle school, made comments on social media saying she was “disappointed” the assassin who attempted to shoot former President Donald Trump missed by “two inches.”
The posts, shared in screenshots on X by Libs of TikTok account, showed Manis reposted comments made by another user on a post about the attempted assassination which said: “nobody has been this disappointed by 2 inches since Stormy.”
Manis has worked at Buncombe schools for 19 years, according to her LinkedIn page. First as an instructional assistant, and beginning in 2012 as a full time special education teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and her Master’s degree from Western Carolina University.
Her classroom site says she lives with her “partner” and they have two children.
An attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was made at a Trump Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13. Secret Service members moved Trump off the stage after shots were fired on him while speaking at the rally. A bullet grazed the former president’s ear, but he was otherwise unharmed.
A local Pennsylvania firefighter was killed in the audience, and two other audience members were critically wounded.
The shooter, 20 year old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed during the incident. FBI agents were able to identify him by tracing the rifle he used, which had been legally purchased by his father.
Trump was able to travel and arrived in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention, which kicked off on Monday, July 15.
Buncombe County schools has not made a public statement regarding Manis’ comments yet.
