The City of Asheville has secured $2.4 million from the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Small Business Infrastructure Grant Program to support infrastructure recovery in Biltmore Village. The funding aims to repair and upgrade public infrastructure that was damaged by Tropical Storm Helene.

Biltmore Village, a historic district and economic center for the region, will benefit from several targeted projects. These include restoring about 3,000 square yards of historic brick sidewalks to maintain the area’s character and improve accessibility and flood resilience. Another portion of the funds will go toward reconstructing 36 ADA-accessible ramps throughout the village, enhancing safety and access for pedestrians, residents, visitors, and businesses. Additionally, approximately 2,231 linear feet of historic curbing will be replaced to improve stormwater management and restore the district’s traditional appearance.

“We’re thankful the State has provided this essential recovery funding for three Asheville projects in the Biltmore Village area,” said Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer. “Improving access and infrastructure not only helps our small, independent businesses, it bolsters the recovery and future resilience of our entire economy and community.”
