Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office announces guilty plea and sentencing in sex offense case

The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office announced on April 21 that Feliciano Roblero pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree statutory sex offense and was sentenced to 94-173 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, according to a news release from the office.

The plea arrangement was aimed at avoiding further trauma to the victim and the victim’s family, who requested the resolution and expressed satisfaction with the prison term, according to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office. Roblero has been in custody since his arrest on March 30, 2023, on a secured bond and an active immigration hold. After completing his prison sentence, Roblero will be turned over to federal immigration authorities for deportation.

Buncombe County has 415 registered sex offenders, according to state data.

Every year, perpetrators sexually abuse tens of thousands of U.S. children and teens, according to RAINN. Child protective services agencies substantiated or found strong evidence that 63,000 children a year were victims of sexual abuse from 2009 to 2013.

The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office prosecutes criminal cases in Buncombe County, North Carolina, under District Attorney Todd Williams. The office says its mission is to seek justice by prioritizing public safety and victims’ rights through the enforcement of criminal laws, according to the office.
