The City of Asheville is highlighting its Community Space Upfit Project in the latest episode of its bi-monthly radio show, “What’s Up AVL!” The episode features host Meredith Friedheim, Communication Specialist, in conversation with Logan Smith, Media Engagement Coordinator.

The discussion centers on the Community Space Upfit Project, which aims to transform community spaces throughout Asheville into flexible, accessible, and technology-ready hubs. According to the episode, these updated spaces are intended to support a range of activities, including public meetings, neighborhood gatherings, workshops, and hybrid engagement. The project also envisions these hubs serving as resilience centers during emergencies, a priority that became more pressing following Hurricane Helene.

Listeners can tune in to “What’s Up AVL!” live on Wednesdays at noon. For those unable to listen live, replays are available from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on WRES 100.7 FM. Previous episodes can also be accessed on the City’s Youtube channel.
