County of Buncombe issued the following announcement on Mar. 11.

Did you know there’s an average of 2,000 pieces of litter per mile on American roads? That’s about 24 billion pieces of litter across the nation according to Keep America Beautiful. In Buncombe County, our natural resources are an important quality of life factor, and you can help with litter removal.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is holding its Spring Litter Sweep from April 16-30, and there are a number of ways you can get involved locally. DOT will be providing trash bags, gloves, and safety vests.
