A quorum of the Haywood County Board of Commissioners is set to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Russ Avenue EMS Base at 2249 Russ Avenue, Waynesville, NC. The event will mark the completion of the new emergency medical services facility.

According to a notice issued by Haven B. Muse, Deputy Clerk to the Board, the commissioners will tour the facility and celebrate its opening. No official county business will be conducted during this event.

In related educational news, data from the 2022-23 school year shows that in Haywood County school districts, only 26% of senior students and 27.9% of junior students who took the science portion of the ACT were considered ready for college. For reading, 42.1% of seniors and 40.8% of juniors met college readiness benchmarks.
