In related education news, data shows that college readiness among Haywood County students remains a concern. In the 2022-23 school year, only about one-quarter of seniors and juniors were considered ready for college in science and math based on ACT scores (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). Reading readiness was higher but still below half; just over 40% of both juniors and seniors met college-ready benchmarks on reading portions of the ACT (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
