23 percent of applicants to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 97 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Chapel Hill enrolled 30,011 students in fall 2018, including 19,117 in undergraduate and 10,894 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

82 percent of undergraduates are residents of North Carolina, and 13 percent are residents of other states. 5 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (60 percent) and Asian (11 percent).

The school admitted 23 percent of the 41,939 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 45 percent enrolled.
