Controversial Critical Race Theory pledged to be taught by 11 Asheville teachers by week ending Oct. 16

Highschool089

Critical Race Theory will be taught by 11 teachers in Asheville who’ve signed an online pledge from the Zinn Education Project by the week ending Oct. 16.

They’re one of the thousands of US teachers pledging to continue educating students about the controversial Critical Race Theory, which explains racism is embedded in US culture and politics.

Comments from Asheville teachers included, "The truth shall make you free" and "I will not be, nor do I want my education students (or their students) to be, intimidated by fear-mongering and the politicization of history".

Though the concept was first suggested in the late 70’s, it has recently exploded as a contentious issue between the American right and left in the last two years.

Many who signed the pledge are defying state bans on the teachings. Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas have passed legislation banning discussions about the US being inherently racist.

Other states, such as Montana and South Dakota, have denounced the teachings without passing specific legislation.

In an interview with The Washington Free Beacon, Ashley Varner of the Freedom Foundation accused the Zinn Education Project of providing “left-leaning propaganda to teachers.”

Kriya LendzionAmerican HIstory is the history of each of us and the totality of our history. We cant tell the story of who we are as individuals or a nation without telling, hearing and reconciling with the truth. Only then can we heal where needed, strengthen where weak, assure that all Americans have equal voices and rights, and truly have a united and strong country.
