Town of Waynesville issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.
The is currently experiencing an interruption of telephone services. This appears to be a nation-wide interruption and is affecting every department in the Town. If you have a Police Department emergency, please call 911.
In the event you need an immediate response from another Town Department please refer to the provided list:

Public Works: (828) 246-4655
Development Services: (828) 734-3946
Finance: (828) 246-8416
Parks and Recreation Department: (828) 593-9431
This interruption of services appears to be very broad in scope, affecting numerous businesses across the region. It is unclear at this point how long this interruption of services will last.
Additional information will be released once it becomes available or a timeline to reestablish normal communications is determined.
