The latest movie from filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza, “Police State,” will be shown at an Asheville movie theater on Oct 23 and Oct. 25.
"I honestly wouldn't have believed, prior to the 2020 election and prior to Biden coming to office, that I’d be making this movie,” D’Souza told AshevilleReporter. “Which really shows that we have seen a speedy introduction of the police state on many different levels.”
The film, titled "Police State," explores the roots of what D’Souza refers to as "police state" activity by the government. It covers a range of topics, from the post-9/11 "Patriot Act" to more recent instances of COVID lockdowns, social media censorship, prosecution of concerned parents at school board meetings, and the surveillance and detention of Americans who were in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
The movie features D’Souza himself, along with seasoned actor Nick Searcy, and interviews with U.S. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R), radio host Dan Bongino, and several government whistleblowers.
The film's trailer has already garnered significant attention, with 74 million views on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, as of publication time.
For those interested in seeing the movie, it will be shown at AMC River Hills 10, located at 299 Swannanoa River Rd. The screenings will take place at 7 p.m. on both Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
In addition to Asheville, the movie will also be shown in other communities such as Fayetteville and Greenville. More information about additional screenings can be found on the movie's website.
