There will be no trash collection service on Monday, January 20, due to ice and snow-covered roads. Trash service will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week, with the exception of Central Business District collections, which will remain on Wednesday.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Peace March and Rally has been canceled due to weather conditions. However, the service at St James A.M.E., located at 44 Hildebrand St., is scheduled to proceed at 11:30 a.m.
Regarding ART services, as of 3 p.m., Route W5 has resumed full service. Route W1 is operating with a detour that bypasses Johnston Blvd and N. Bear Creek Rd, using Dearview Rd instead for inbound and outbound travel. Stops missed include 822, 825, 826, 827, 152, 151, and 150.
For WE1 route users, Stop 118 at New Leicester Hwy near Walgreens remains closed due to ice; passengers are advised to use Stop 119 at Tradewind Dr.
Earlier in the day at 11:15 a.m., Route W6 resumed full service while Route W5 continued with a detour near Adams Hill Rd. Service to Stop 143 on Pearson Bridge Rd at Bingham Rd is unavailable; passengers can use Stop 104 on Bingham Rd at Adams Hill Rd instead. Similarly, there is no service to Stop 103 on Adams Hill Rd at Pearson Bridge Rd; passengers should use Stop 139 on N Louisiana Rd at Arctic Rd instead. Suspension of Route W1 continues until further notice.
As of the morning update at 9:30 a.m., Routes W1, W5, and W6 were suspended due to icy conditions. Additionally, all active routes are operating under Sunday schedules from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., following Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday protocols.
