Town of Black Mountain issued the following announcement on July 29.

The Town of Black Mountain is pleased to announce that Assistant Fire Chief John Coffey was selected to fill the vacant Fire Chief position. 

Chief Coffey has over twenty years of experience in emergency and fire services, including as Fire Chief of Riceville Fire Department. 

Chief Coffey has strong leadership skills and is well known and respected throughout the state.
