The Wall Street Parking Garage in Asheville will be closed for two weeks starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, to complete essential repairs. All vehicles are required to leave the garage by 7 a.m. on Friday, September 26. At the same time, the Rankin Avenue Garage will fully reopen after its partial reopening earlier in September.

According to city officials, the Wall Street Parking Garage is expected to reopen by October 10. This schedule is part of the City’s goal to have both garages open again in early October and finish repairs before colder temperatures prevent work that relies on specific weather conditions. Some construction activities that do not require full closure of the garage will continue through the rest of the year. The City notes that these completion dates depend on current plans and conditions; unexpected issues could cause delays or extend closures.

“The City recognizes the impact that parking garage closures may have on downtown visitors, businesses, residents, and employees,” stated city representatives. More information about parking options in Asheville can be found by visiting the City of Asheville Parking Services page or checking real-time availability for City and County parking decks using the Asheville App.

Monthly permit holders who use Rankin Avenue Garage will receive a two-week grace period to transition back after it reopens. Wall Street Garage monthly users will also get a similar grace period; their monthly cards will remain valid for all access until two weeks after Wall Street Garage reopens. Monthly passholders and downtown stakeholders will be notified through email and door-to-door communication.
