The Wall Street Parking Garage in Asheville is scheduled to reopen to the public by Saturday, October 11, following the completion of major structural repairs. The City of Asheville stated that this work was necessary for both safety and the long-term use of the garage.

Ashley Haire, Transportation Director for the City of Asheville, said, “We are pleased to have completed this essential work, which was vital for public safety and the continued operation of one of our key downtown assets. We sincerely thank all residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience and understanding throughout the full closure period. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our fully open parking garages this weekend.”

Although the main structural repairs are finished, minor construction will continue around elevator landings. The garage will remain open during this phase, with minimal disruption expected near these areas.

Permit holders and the general public can resume regular parking at the facility starting October 11. Permit holders will receive a two-week grace period until October 24 during which their passes will allow access to any city-operated garage.

Those who have signed up for updates on the project page will receive information about the final completion of elevator work via email.

The city also announced that additional high-priority improvements are planned for other garages, including Harrah’s Cherokee Center Garage and Biltmore Avenue Garage. These updates will be carried out when warmer weather allows. A final phase will address medium-priority needs such as code compliance, wayfinding, and aesthetic upgrades. Further details and updates can be found on the city’s project page.
