TOWN OF MARS HILL: Town is Planning a Prescribed Burn on November 8

Town of Mars Hill issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.

Residents of Forest Street, Banjo Branch, Bailey Street and vicinity; other Town Residents and Friends of Bailey Mountain Park and Preserve:

The Town is planning a prescribed burn on Tuesday, November 8 (tomorrow), in the upper Smith Farm portion of the Bailey Mountain Park and Preserve.  Please be aware that there will be smoke in and around the area of the park.  There will be an organizational briefing at 1:00, and the actual burn will begin around 2:00.

This prescribed management burn is being conducted in partnership and cooperation of the Southern Blue Ridge Prescribed Burn Association, Mars Hill Fire Department, NC Forest Service, Mountain Valleys Resource Conservation and Development Council, and Friends of Bailey Mountain.

BAILEY MOUNTAIN TRAILS AND PARK WILL BE CLOSED ALL DAY FOR HIKER SAFETY
