Buncombe County and the City of Asheville have joined forces to introduce a groundbreaking initiative called Electrify Asheville-Buncombe, aimed at supporting the clean-energy objectives of Asheville and Buncombe County residents. The program offers assistance to locals in exploring new electric technologies, selecting certified local contractors, and accessing discounts and financing options to upgrade their homes with efficient electrified systems.

The centerpiece of the Electrify Asheville-Buncombe program is the launch of a new online marketplace, LetsGoElectric.com, where local contractors showcase cutting-edge heat pump technology for purchase and installation in homes. According to the program, electrification involves transitioning from gas or oil-based appliances to electric alternatives, which may also require upgrades to home electrical panels and wiring.

"Electrification" is a way to transition from gas or heating oil-based appliances and equipment to electrified alternatives for homes," explains the initiative. Additionally, "Electrification" may also involve home electrical panel and wiring upgrades to adapt these new technologies to your residence.

Electrify Asheville-Buncombe aims to democratize electrification, making it more accessible to everyone while highlighting the benefits of savings, safety, and improved comfort. The program offers a range of services, including home energy audits, a network of trusted local HVAC installers, and access to incentives and financing through local lender, Self-Help Credit Union. The user-friendly website, LetsGoElectric.com, equips residents with tools to initiate climate-positive actions within their homes.
