Members of the Asheville community are invited to learn more about the O.U.R. Asheville Academy – a community engagement leadership academy that is accepting applications for its next orientation on June 1, 2024. The academy is open to youth and adults residing within the city limits of Asheville. A virtual information session will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 6 p.m. Please RSVP to receive the virtual meeting link.

The O.U.R. Academy is described as an interactive, hands-on learning opportunity that addresses various aspects of community engagement. According to the program, it will focus on community connectedness, research, development, mental health, and mobilization. Participants will have the chance to engage in peer-to-peer learning, establish networking connections, and develop resume-building skills. Moreover, individuals who successfully complete the 8-week academy will receive a stipend of $500.

Upon graduation, participants will be recognized as "O.U.R. Asheville Community Connectors" and will receive a certificate of completion. These graduates will be well-positioned to assist in organizing events within their communities, leading community discussions, and providing input on various City projects and initiatives.
