The City of Asheville has announced that the final date for placing storm debris in the right-of-way for collection is March 1, 2025. This marks a significant step in the city's storm recovery efforts as contractors prepare to conduct a final sweep to collect remaining debris. The final pass is expected to be completed by April 1.

Debris placed in the right-of-way after this deadline will not be collected. However, contractors will continue debris removal through the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) program and within local waterways to aid ongoing recovery and environmental stabilization.

Residents are advised to sort debris at the curb without using bags unless necessary. If bagging is required, only clear or transparent bags should be used; black bags are not permitted. Debris must be separated into categories: construction materials, appliances, electronics, vegetative debris, and mud/dirt.

"The City of Asheville appreciates the community’s cooperation in keeping our streets and neighborhoods clear," stated city officials. More information can be found on the city's storm debris management webpage.
