Nurses and support staff represent more than half of nearly 600 job opportunities currently available at Mission Health.
An article on WLOS states a national shortage of nurses is among the reasons for the large number of open positions.
“That just puts a larger workload on the nurses that you currently do have, which causes a whole other problem in terms of burnout for nurses,” Christy Andrews, chair of the nursing programs at Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College said in the article.
The 600 job vacancies represent roughly 5% of Mission Health’s workforce.
Mission Health is the sixth-largest health system in North Carolina. The company has been regularly featured in IBM Watson Health’s list of the Top 15 Health Systems in the nation. Its services include primary care, home health, rehabilitation, emergency and trauma care, sports medicine, preventative and disease management, and hospice care.
