Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) is preparing to host its annual Tiny Tykes Day, aimed at children aged 5 and under. The event, free for attendees, will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 2-5pm. This year, it will be held at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center on Livingston Street, an exciting new venue offering both extensive outdoor and indoor space.

D. Tyrell McGirt, APR Director, said, “We’re excited to bring Tiny Tykes Day to this new location, providing a space where our youngest community members can explore, play, and create memories, regardless of the weather.” McGirt emphasized that the event and other year-round toddler programs underscore a commitment to supporting healthy development and imagination among Asheville's children.

Activities planned for Tiny Tykes Day include inflatables, mini train rides, face painting, crafts, and biking, all designed to engage young adventurers. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to watch and enjoy the activities. No registration is required, and admission is free. For inquiries, Kiley Pritchard can be contacted via email at kpritchard@ashevillenc.gov or by phone at (828) 507-3357.

The announcement also highlighted additional events leading up to the festival. Among these are the Tiny Tykes Play Club, Toddler Takeovers in the Park, Toddler Superhero Playdate, Toddler Kickball Extravaganza, and Mini Movers, all aimed at offering engaging experiences for young children and their families.

For more information about toddler programs and to stay informed, interested parties are invited to check the Asheville Parks & Recreation program guide, sign up for newsletters, or follow their social media channels.
