Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.

Words are one of the most complex and powerful tools that we as humans have at our disposal. Transaspan is an Asheville-based translation business that seeks to harness the power of words to connect community and reach more people. Transaspan’s team has over 20 years of experience in developing translations and proven dedication to understanding the connection between the Hispanic community and local businesses. We sat down with them to learn more about how they assist their clients with tapping in to the ever-growing Hispanic market in Asheville.

What is a little-known fact about your business?

We are “word nerds” and have a great time working! We like to challenge each other and try to astound each other with perfect words…what we call “mot juste”, the perfectly appropriate word/phrase for the situation!

What is the best business advice you have received?

Work LOCAL! We love this community and we want to work with you, right here in the NC mountains.  Let us grow together.

What is your company’s legacy?

We strive for excellence, and 99 times out of a hundred, that is what we achieve.  We hope that excellence, friendliness and flexibility will be our legacy in the North Carolina mountains. We want to connect our community to the warm, hospitable hope-filled Hispanic community, brimming with energy and gusto for life.  Together, we can make the NC mountains an even more dynamic place to be and do business.

How has your idea of business transformed?

The translation and interpretation business is fluid, and we must adapt to our clients’ needs.  During COVID, we’ve had to be prepared for multiple virtual meetings and presentations.  We’ve purchased high quality headsets and mikes to make the meetings seamless and the interpretation as clear as possible. Simultaneous interpretation can make a meeting flow without delay, so we have included phone simultaneous interpretation alongside our Zoom, WebEx and Microsoft Teams meetings to ensure the Non-English speakers and listeners can thoroughly understand the information at a pace equal to their English speaking counterparts.

What’s on the horizon?

Our main focus for years at Transaspan has been education and legal interpretation and translation.  This year, we have added two professional translators with impeccable credentials to allow for expert translation in the medical and marketing fields as well.  We have raised our security standards and software so that your documents will be safe and secure throughout the translation process.  We follow ASTM Standards every step of the way and are excited with the new challenges these fields bring us.
