TOWN OF BILTMORE FOREST: Tick & Insect-Borne Disease Awareness

Tick

Town of Biltmore Forest issued the following announcement on Jul. 20.

The Town recently hosted a Zoom presentation by Dr. Jennifer Mullendore, medical director for Buncombe County. Dr. Mullendore provided a community update on Covid-19, but the bulk of the conversation centered on ticks and other insect-borne diseases. The Town is a heavily forested environment and the potential for encountering ticks increases during the warmer, summer months. The information below includes a link to the full Zoom talk and presentation, as well as the powerpoint slides focusing on how to be aware of ticks and other insects, how to protect yourself from them, information on the diseases they carry, and what signs or symptoms may be present if you are bitten.
