COUNTY OF HAYWOOD: Notice of Public Hearing Regarding Amendments to Multiple Ordinances - December 6, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.

County of Haywood issued the following announcement on Nov. 26. 

Concerning Amendments to Ordinances in the County of Haywood, North Carolina Code of Ordinances.  

TAKE NOTICE that the Haywood County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. during the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners in the Historic Courtroom of the Haywood County Historic Courthouse located at 215 North Main Street, Waynesville, North Carolina.

The North Carolina General Assembly adopted Session Law 2021-138, effective December 1, 2021, which decriminalizes violations of certain ordinances. This change in state law necessitates amendments to multiple ordinances in Haywood County’s Code of Ordinances.  

The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments concerning the proposed conforming and technical amendments to the County of Haywood, North Carolina Code of Ordinances. 

Copies of the proposed amendments are available for public inspection on the Public Information page of the Haywood County website, www.haywoodcountync.gov., in the Office of the Clerk to the Board located in the Haywood County Historic Courthouse at 215 N. Main St., Waynesville, and at the main Haywood County Public Library located at 678 South Haywood St., Waynesville.  

Persons wishing to be heard at the public hearing are asked to be present. The County Commissioners may adopt reasonable rules governing the conduct of the hearing including (i) fixing the maximum time allotted to each speaker, (ii) providing for the designation of spokesmen for groups of persons supporting or opposing the same position, (iii) providing for the selection of delegates from groups of persons supporting or opposing the same positions when the number of persons wishing to attend the hearing exceeds the capacity of the hall, and (iv) providing for the maintenance of order and decorum in the conduct of the hearing.
