Town of Black Mountain issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

The extremely low temperatures and high-water demand continue to place an unusual strain on the Town of Black Mountain and the City of Asheville’s water distribution systems.

Please consider conserving water and delaying unnecessary water use for the next 24-48 hours to help avoid low or no water pressure for all customers. When water systems experience low pressure or lose pressure, there is an increased risk of contamination.

This does not mean that the water is contaminated, but that the possibility exists.

We understand that this is a difficult ask given both the holidays and cold temperatures and we are grateful for your efforts.

Customers will receive additional notification that the advisory has been lifted.
