Town of Waynesville Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

Dangerous Cold Wave | Temperatures will fall rapidly Friday morning, bottoming out Saturday morning, and will stay well below normal through the weekend.

Expect strong winds during the day Friday. 

Possible dangers: Frostbite, frozen plumbing, sudden dangerous driving conditions if rain turns to ice, freezing winds will make temps feel even colder. 

Bring pets/livestock indoors if possible. Protect plumbing from freezing by covering exposed pipes, leave taps dripping,  and cabinet doors open. 

Keep skin covered to avoid frostbite if outdoors. Have extra blankets, heat sources in case of power outages.
