Asheville City government offices have announced their closure on Friday, March 29, 2024. The closure will impact various City services, including the ART bus service, Parks & Recreation facilities, and other community and regional entertainment venues.

The ART bus service will run on a holiday schedule, aligning with the Sunday schedule for Good Friday. According to city officials, this adjustment is part of the six days when ART operates on a reduced holiday schedule.

In line with the office closure, Asheville Parks & Recreation shared their schedule adjustments. On Friday, March 29, administrative offices and all community center buildings will be closed. However, all parks and greenways will remain accessible from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Similarly, on Sunday, March 31, community center buildings will be closed, while parks and greenways will maintain their operating hours.

Community & Regional Entertainment Facilities will also be affected by the holiday closure. Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be closed, but tickets for upcoming events are available online. The Asheville Municipal Golf Course will remain open, with tee times bookable online, and the WNC Nature Center will be open for visitors with entry passes available for purchase.

Sanitation services in Asheville will not be impacted by the holiday closure, as trash and recycling pickup will continue as scheduled from Monday through Thursday.

For emergency response and water-related issues, Water Resources staff will be on hand 24/7 over the holiday weekend to address any water-related emergencies, leaks, breaks, or water supply disruptions. Customers can report issues by calling the customer service line at 828-251-1122. Public safety services, including police, fire, and emergency response, will operate as usual, providing assistance around the clock.

As the City of Asheville prepares for the upcoming closure of offices and adjusted service schedules, residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize online resources for any necessary bookings or information.
