City of Asheville Moves City Council Meeting to Harrah's Cherokee Center – Asheville with Time Change

The City of Asheville has announced a change in venue and time for the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. The meeting will now take place at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville and will commence at 4:00 p.m.

According to the City of Asheville, "The regularly scheduled City Council meeting for Tuesday, April 23, 2024, will be held at Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville." The venue change to the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville at 87 Haywood St will also see a shift in the meeting's starting time to 4:00 p.m.

In addition, the City of Asheville has assured that the standard features of the meeting, such as live-streaming, in-person comment, interpretation upon request, presentations, and email and voicemail comments, will still be available to the public. "Details outlining all the features will be posted on the City News website and City of Asheville social media, the Friday before the meeting (Friday, April 19), as is the standard meeting notification procedure," the City stated.

Furthermore, to accommodate attendees of the meeting, free parking will be provided in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville garage. The City of Asheville emphasized, "Free parking will be available in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville garage for those attending the meeting." The garage entrance is located at 68 Rankin Ave.

To facilitate the parking process, the City of Asheville has outlined a procedure for attendees:

- Pull a ticket from the kiosk when entering the garage and take it into the meeting.

- Obtain a free parking barcode sticker from the public comment sign-in desk and place it on the back of the parking garage ticket.

- When leaving the garage, scan both the standard parking ticket barcode and the sticker barcode received at the Council meeting sign-in desk for a smooth exit without charge.

Attendees are encouraged to follow the outlined parking procedure to ensure a hassle-free experience when attending the City Council meeting at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville.
