Asheville Parks & Recreation Hosts Exciting Events in May

Asheville Parks & Recreation is gearing up for a vibrant spring season filled with festivals, activities, and community gatherings throughout the month of May. Offering a diverse range of events, the APR aims to bring neighbors together and foster creativity in the community.

The program guide for May to August is now available in both English and Spanish, providing locals with a variety of options to enjoy their summer in Asheville. With programs filling up quickly and some requiring advance registration, residents are encouraged to plan ahead and choose activities that interest them. The APR offers a plethora of opportunities, including weekly and monthly programs, special events, and outdoor activities in parks, greenways, and playgrounds.

Among the highlights of the month are various festivals and events for both adults and children. From the Kentucky Derby Party to the Toddler Kickball Extravaganza, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Asheville this May.

For those interested in outdoor activities, there are opportunities to participate in activities such as Summer Skate at Carrier Park, River Snorkeling classes, and Yoga in the Park. Additionally, the APR caters to art and community enthusiasts with programs like the Veterans Creative Retreat and Wise Words Open Mic.

Sports enthusiasts can also get in on the action with registrations open for various leagues including wrestling, tennis, basketball, and softball. These leagues offer opportunities for both beginners and experienced players to improve their skills and enjoy friendly competition.
