Asheville announces city council meeting for May 28 with remote participation options

The next meeting of the Asheville City Council will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28. It will take place in the Council Chamber on the 2nd Floor of City Hall, located at 70 Court Plaza.

The Council meeting agenda is posted on the City’s website. According to North Carolina General Statute § 143-318.10, this will be an in-person meeting that the public can also access remotely.

The City Council meeting will be broadcast live on Charter/Spectrum Channel 193, streamed on the City’s YouTube Channel, and available through the City’s Virtual Engagement Hub accessible via the front page of the City website.

Individuals wishing to speak live at the meeting must attend in person and sign up at the door before entering the Council Chamber. Comments can also be emailed to Council at any time at ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov.

Interpretive services are available upon request for those attending in person. Requests must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, using a specified form.

For those planning to make a slide or PowerPoint presentation at the meeting, submissions must be sent to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

To accommodate individuals unable or unwilling to attend in person, remote comments will be accepted via email or voicemail through the Engagement Hub until 9 a.m. on the day of the meeting. Email comments may be sent to ashevillecitycouncilmay282024@publicinput.com and voicemail comments can be left at 855-925-2801 using meeting code: 7030.

Free parking for attendees will be available in two city employee parking lots along Marjorie Street after 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting:

- Valley St. Parking Lot at 55 Valley Street

- Marjorie St. Parking Lot at 17 Marjorie Street
