Asheville announces venue change for July City Council meeting

The City of Asheville has announced that the upcoming City Council meeting will be held on July 23 at 5 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville, located at 87 Haywood Street, Asheville, N.C.

The agenda for the meeting is available on the City's website. According to North Carolina General Statute § 143-318.10, this will be an in-person meeting with remote access options.

Residents can watch the meeting live on Charter/Spectrum Channel 193, streamed on the City’s YouTube Channel, or through the City’s Virtual Engagement Hub accessible via the front page of the City website.

Individuals wishing to speak live must attend in person and sign up at the door. Comments can also be emailed directly to Council at any time at: ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov.

Interpretive services are available upon request by completing a form by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Those planning to make a slide or PowerPoint presentation must submit their materials to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23.

To accommodate those unable or unwilling to attend in person, remote comments will be accepted via email or voicemail through the Engagement Hub until 9 a.m. on the day of the meeting. Email comments can be sent to ashevillecitycounciljuly232024@publicinput.com and voicemail comments can be left at 855-925-2801 using meeting code: 7037.

Free parking is available in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center-Asheville garage with entrance at 68 Rankin Ave. Attendees should pull a ticket from the kiosk when entering and obtain a barcode sticker from the public comment sign-in desk for free parking validation upon departure.
