Emily Provance named as Asheville's new Human Resources Director

Asheville City Manager Debra Campbell has announced that Emily Provance will be the new Human Resources Director for the City of Asheville. Provance is set to begin her role on September 16, 2024.

Provance holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Akron and is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP). Her career has been marked by a commitment to fostering inclusive work environments and aligning HR practices with organizational goals.

Before joining the City of Asheville, Provance served as Human Resources Director at Malone University. There, she implemented a new human resource information system and managed all HR functions.

In her new role, Provance will oversee talent acquisition, employee relations, employee development, compensation, and benefits. Her aim is to ensure that Asheville remains an employer of choice.

“On behalf of the city, I am thrilled to welcome our new HR Director, Emily Provance,” said Campbell. “I look forward to her leadership and the fresh perspectives she will bring to our organization and the broader community.”
