The City of Asheville experienced disruptions in services on December 3, 2024, due to icy road conditions and cold weather. ART Transit services resumed at noon, with three routes affected: N1, N2, and W1. These routes faced detours due to the weather conditions. Other routes continued with regular or previously established detours.
City street teams worked early in the morning to grit streets after witnessing several accidents caused by black ice. They urged residents, particularly those in high elevations, to drive cautiously. The city encouraged community members to stay updated through its social media channels and website.
ART Transit initially suspended service because of icy roads but planned to resume operations once conditions improved. Sanitation services were also delayed until road safety could be assured.
