The City of Asheville has announced upcoming lane and street closures on Patton Avenue as part of the Carter-Ann-Patton stormwater project. These measures are set to begin shortly, with daytime lane reductions starting January 10.
From this date, Patton Avenue will be limited to one lane in each direction during daylight hours. Depending on conditions underground, an additional lane closure might be necessary. If so, one westbound lane will remain open between Clingman Avenue and North French Broad Avenue, with appropriate signage provided.
Furthermore, a complete street closure is scheduled for the nights of January 13 and 14 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. This closure affects Patton Avenue from Pearl Street to South Ann Street. Detour signs will guide drivers at French Broad Avenue and Clingman Avenue. Motorists are advised to use I-240 or other routes to navigate downtown efficiently.
"To ensure crew and community safety," the city states that these closures are essential for the ongoing project work. The overnight schedule aims to reduce disruption for local businesses and residents. However, all plans are subject to change based on weather conditions.
