Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) is set to welcome the arrival of spring with a series of events and activities throughout April. The month-long program offers a variety of opportunities for community engagement, fitness, arts, and nature exploration.
One notable event is the celebration of Memorial Stadium's renovation on April 15. This occasion will be marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the Asheville Sports + Fitness Fair, which will feature local sports leagues and wellness organizations.
The schedule also includes several themed events such as "Glow in the Park" on April 4, a "Toddler Egg Hunt" on April 9, and the "Spring Eggstravaganza" on April 19. Additionally, APR encourages support for local athletes at the Senior Games Opening Ceremony on April 5, followed by a pickleball tournament.
For those interested in learning new skills or engaging in creative activities, APR offers sessions like Beginner Pickleball Play on April 5 and No School Arts and Craft Day on April 15. There are also opportunities for young children to engage their imaginations with events like Funny Bunnies on April 8 and Little Sprouts on April 22.
Nature enthusiasts can participate in guided hikes and nature crafts throughout the month. These include TR Hiking at Balsam Nature Trail on April 3 and Naturalist Hikes at Glenn’s Creek Greenway on April 5.
Crafting activities are available as well, with Therapeutic Recreation Adult Crafting sessions scheduled for Tuesday mornings. Community members can also enjoy social gatherings such as Harvest House Spring Tea on April 2 and Burton Street Bingo events.
