Town of Waynesville issued the following announcement on Sep 3.
This rod is very unique in that the grip reverses to transform the rod from a fly rod to a casting rod. The rod was originally made when the U.S. occupied Japan after World War II, which probably makes the rod 75 years old. The rod still has the plastic protection on the cork grip from the factory. The rod is an 8 foot 3 piece rod with one tip made of new and existing parts and developed to cast 5 weight forward line. All new Chestnut silks (threads) tipped in Chocolate all hand tied with custom two-part epoxy finish. Rod was mapped and restored per existing rod configuration. All new snake guides were utilized.
All proceeds support: BBBS' mission to help the youth of Haywood County reach their potential, AND
Haywood Waterways' mission to protect and improve the county's rivers, streams, and lakes
