City of Asheville offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Thursday, June 20.

Asheville Rides Transit (ART) will operate on a Sunday schedule during the holiday. Residents are encouraged to download the Transit app for efficient trip planning or visit the City of Asheville Transit webpage for more information. The ART Transit Center is located at 49 Coxe Ave.

Trash, recycling, and brush collection services will maintain their normal schedules on June 19 and June 20. However, the Sanitation Office will be closed on Wednesday in observance of Juneteenth.

City parks and greenways will remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Splasheville in Pack Square Park will operate from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., while pools at Recreation Park and Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Community center buildings and administrative offices will be closed, but outdoor amenities adjacent to parks will be accessible from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Riverside Cemetery offices will also be closed; however, the cemetery itself remains open until 8 p.m.

The city is partnering with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Association of Asheville-Buncombe County to present a Juneteenth Lunch and Learn Series starting Monday, June 17, with additional sessions occurring throughout the week.

The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville (HCCA) will close on Wednesday, June 19; its box office summer hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Asheville Municipal Golf Course and WNC Nature Center will operate as usual.

Water Resources staff remain available for emergencies around the clock via customer service at 828-251-1122 for issues such as leaks or water outages.

All public safety services including police, fire, and emergency response teams continue their operations uninterrupted—24 hours a day, seven days a week.
