The City of Asheville has announced the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking a service provider to manage the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID). This initiative aims to enhance safety and cleanliness within the downtown area.

The city is inviting proposals from qualified service providers with experience in managing community-focused programs. The selected provider will be responsible for implementing BID services, which focus on safety and hospitality, enhanced cleaning, and special projects designed to improve the downtown experience.

Proposals must be submitted by 5 p.m. on October 15, 2024. Detailed submission requirements and selection criteria are available in the official RFP document on the City’s Purchasing/Bid Opportunities page.

Community feedback sessions held in July and August helped shape service priorities for the BID. "The City is committed to ensuring that the Downtown BID reflects and responds to the unique character and needs of our community," stated a city representative.

Key objectives for the selected service provider include creating an inclusive downtown environment, improving quality of life through public safety and cleanliness efforts, sustaining long-term improvement initiatives, and increasing business activity while supporting small independent businesses.

For more information about the RFP process or updates on the Downtown BID services implementation, please visit the project page.
