The Sustainability Department has shared the results of its recent sustainability building rebates survey. The survey garnered 34 responses, revealing that 65% of respondents are not currently participating in the rebate program, primarily due to a lack of awareness about its existence.

Regarding potential changes to the rebate structure, the survey indicated several preferences among respondents:

- 85% (23 respondents) opposed a cap on the number of rebates available to a single builder in a fiscal year.

- 69% (18 respondents) supported offering larger rebates for higher certification levels.

- 77% (20 respondents) favored higher rebates for preserving existing trees rather than planting new ones.

The survey also collected various suggestions for additional rebates not currently included in the program and feedback on improving the application process. Suggestions included streamlining the process, making it entirely digital, or integrating it into the larger permitting process.

The department is currently discussing possible changes with the Development Services Department and builders associations to determine actions with the greatest impact and feasibility. Efforts are also underway to improve and expand outreach regarding the program.

"We are discussing possible changes with our Development Services Department and with builders associations to determine the actions with greatest impact and feasibility," stated a department representative. "We are also working on ways to improve and expand our outreach regarding the program."

Further updates will be provided once analysis is complete and decisions regarding program updates have been made.
