Of the 256,886 citizens living in Buncombe County in 2019, 208,730 were old enough to vote as of Jan. 26, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

The bureau reported 110,225 of those people were female and 98,505 were male.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
