COUNTY OF HAYWOOD: Seeking Applicants to Serve on Smoky Mountain Event Center Board (f.k.a. Agricultural Activities Bd)

County of Haywood issued the following announcement on Nov. 2.

The Haywood County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications to fill two upcoming vacancies on the Smoky Mountain Event Center Board (formerly known as the Agricultural Activities Center Board). This Board plans and coordinates the annual Haywood County Fair, as well as promoting and encouraging agricultural, manufacturing, educational, recreational, cultural, and art activities and events for the enrichment of Haywood County.  This Board meets the second Monday of each month at 4 pm. 

Board members are expected to be involved and participate in Board-sponsored events and activities. More information about the board can be on the Haywood County website at https://www.haywoodcountync.gov/754/Smoky-Mountain-Event-Center-Board .

The vacancies are for three-year terms to begin January 2, 2023. Applicants must be full-time residents of Haywood County. 

The Volunteer Board Applicant Form may be downloaded from the “How Do I…Submit Volunteer Board or Committee Application” section of the county website https://www.haywoodcountync.gov/9/How-Do-I or picked up from the County Manager’s office from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Haywood County Courthouse, third floor, 215 North Main Street, Waynesville.  

Completed applications may be returned to the County Manager’s Office or attached to an email to Amy Stevens, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, at amy.stevens@haywoodcountync.gov. 

 Applications will be accepted through Friday, December 2, 2022. For more information, contact the County Manager’s Office at 452-6625.
