The City of Asheville has provided an update on the progress of the Carter-Ann-Patton Stormwater Improvement Project. The project, which has been ongoing for a few months, has resulted in multiple road closures in order to facilitate the work. To ensure the project can continue smoothly, these road closures will remain in place for the time being.

The city has implemented a detour in the affected areas and is urging drivers to follow the designated route. Information regarding the road closures and detour can be found on Asheville.com. The closures are in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with the aim of minimizing traffic disruption and minimizing the impact on local businesses and the community.

The renovation project aims to address several issues, including reducing area flooding, upgrading the stormwater system, and improving pedestrian safety. As part of the project, new ADA-accessible sidewalks and high-visibility crosswalks will be installed along Patton Ave. Additionally, the street will be resurfaced, with adjustments made to manhole utility covers. The city also plans to plant trees more suited to thrive in an urban setting, and any trees that are deemed unable to thrive or have disease will be replaced. The tree replacements will take place during the optimal planting season in the fall.

The City of Asheville is committed to completing the Carter-Ann-Patton Stormwater Improvement Project efficiently and with minimal disruption to the community. The road closures will remain in effect until the project is completed. Updates and additional information can be found on Asheville.com and through local news sources.
