Asheville City Council announces next meeting on May 14, 2024

The Asheville City Council has announced its next meeting, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall, located at 70 Court Plaza. The agenda for the council meeting is available on the city's official website.

It should be noted that the proposed FY 2024-2025 Budget Document will be added to the website after 4 p.m. on Friday, May 10. In accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 143-318.10, this will be an in-person meeting that can also be accessed remotely through various platforms listed on the city's website.

The council meeting will be broadcast live on Charter/Spectrum Channel 193 and streamed on the city's YouTube channel or through the city's Virtual Engagement Hub accessible via the front page of the city's website.

Those wishing to speak live at the meeting must attend in person and sign up at the door before entering the Council Chamber. Comments can also be emailed directly to Council at ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov.

For those who require interpretive services to participate in person at the City Council meeting, requests can be made using a form available online by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Individuals wishing to make a slide or PowerPoint presentation during a formal meeting of the City Council must submit their presentations to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by noon on Monday, May 13, 2024.

In order to accommodate those who are not yet comfortable attending in person or have other barriers to participation, remote comments via email or voicemail will continue to be accepted through the Engagement Hub until 9 a.m. on the day of the City Council meeting. Emails can be sent to ashevillecitycouncilmay142024@publicinput.com, and voicemails can be left at 855-925-2801, meeting code: 7017.

For those attending the City Council meeting in person, free parking will be available in the two city employee parking lots along Marjorie Street after 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting. These include the Valley St. Parking Lot at 55 Valley Street and the Marjorie St. Parking Lot at 17 Marjorie Street.
