Running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., ElectriFair will include various features such as:
- Information on all-electric residential solutions for heating, cooling, and appliances.
- Local contractors showcasing their electric offerings and providing insights into home electrification.
- Giveaways including an induction cooktop.
- Live panel sessions detailing federal incentives, utility rebates, and special financing options for local residents.
- Demonstrations of electric vehicles (EVs) and electric bikes by local enthusiasts.
- A mobile Tiny Home powered solely by solar energy from Sugar Hollow Solar.
Food and refreshments will be provided by El Querubin and Bridge & Tunnel Coffee Co.
Sophie Mullinax of Electrify Asheville-Buncombe stated: “Whether you’re a clean energy enthusiast, a home contractor or just curious about the movement in America to electrify the built environment, this event is a perfect opportunity to connect, learn and discover the wonders of energy-efficient technology. Don’t miss out on this chance to drop by and electrify your knowledge and home with clean energy solutions.”
The term “electrification” refers to transitioning from gas or oil-based systems to high-efficiency electric alternatives. The Electrify Asheville-Buncombe program includes LetsGoElectric.com, an online marketplace where area contractors offer heat pump technologies, energy efficiency systems, and electrical upgrades for purchase and installation.
Electrify Asheville-Buncombe aims for complete clean energy reliance in Asheville and Buncombe County by 2042. The initiative is supported by the City of Asheville's sustainability efforts, Buncombe County, Let’s Go Electric, Sugar Hollow Solar, Rhino Renewables Solar & Electric, Building Science Detectives, Self-Help Credit Union, Duke Energy, and Blue Ridge Appliance & Hearth.
Beyond ElectriFair, additional community events are planned to raise awareness about clean energy at various levels. The program supports residents through access to local contractors offering efficient technology options and helps navigate government purchase incentives while providing energy audits and inclusive financing.
