Asheville City Council announces upcoming public meeting details and participation options

The City of Asheville has announced that the next City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 5 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber on the second floor of City Hall, located at 70 Court Plaza.

The agenda for the meeting is available on the city's website. In accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 143-318.10, this will be an in-person meeting accessible remotely to the public.

For those interested in watching the proceedings, the City Council meeting will be live-streamed on the city's YouTube channel and through its Virtual Engagement Hub, which can be accessed via the city website's front page.

Individuals who wish to speak live during the meeting must attend in person and sign up at the door before entering the Council Chamber. Comments can also be emailed directly to ashevillenccouncil@ashevillenc.gov at any time.

Interpretation services are available upon request for those attending in person. Requests for these services must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday before the meeting using a specified form.

Presenters planning to make slide or PowerPoint presentations must submit their materials to Maggie Burleson at mburleson@ashevillenc.gov by noon on the day before the meeting.

To accommodate individuals unable or unwilling to attend in person due to security concerns or other barriers, remote comments will continue to be accepted via email or voicemail until 9 a.m. on the day of the meeting. Email comments should be sent to ashevillecitycounciljan142025@publicinput.com, while voicemail comments can be left at 855-925-2801 using meeting code: 10945.

Free parking for attendees will be provided after 4:30 p.m. on Marjorie Street in two city employee parking lots:

- Valley St. Parking Lot at 55 Valley Street

- Marjorie St. Parking Lot at 17 Marjorie Street
