Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is inviting community members to participate in its monthly Cancer Support Group. The group is intended to offer support and resources for individuals dealing with cancer and their families. Meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Homestead Building, located at 127 Sunset Ridge Road in Clyde.
The support group welcomes anyone living with cancer, regardless of the type or location of treatment, along with their families. It aims to provide a safe environment for participants to connect, share experiences, and gain valuable information to assist them in their cancer journeys. Each session will cover various topics and include light snacks for attendees.
The group is facilitated by HRMC's nurse navigators, Barbara Westlake, RN, MSN, and Kristina Zilakakis, RN. Both have extensive experience in supporting individuals through cancer diagnoses and treatment plans by offering guidance and emotional support.
“We understand the challenges cancer patients face, both physically and emotionally,” said Barbara Westlake, RN, MSN, HRMC Breast Care Nurse Navigator. “This group allows us to provide personalized care and a sense of community for those who need it most.”
Participation in the Cancer Support Group is free of charge.
