Haywood Regional Medical Center is set to host a complimentary Lunch and Learn event on April 16th, scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. This gathering will be in the second-floor classroom of the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center.

The event will feature two knowledgeable speakers: Molly Behan, MHA, CLE from Four Seasons, The Care You Trust, and DeLisa Ensley, Patient Care Liaison with Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care. Attendees can look forward to a free lunch during the session.

Molly Behan will give insights into palliative care, hospice services, and grief support. Her presentation aims to clarify the differences among these services and their role in aiding patients and families facing serious illness and end-of-life situations. Meanwhile, DeLisa Ensley will elaborate on the Five Wishes, a tool nationally recognized for recording healthcare preferences, encompassing emotional and spiritual aspects beyond medical treatment.

“These conversations can be challenging, but they’re also empowering,” remarked Chris Brown, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “Knowing your options and sharing your wishes brings peace of mind to both patients and families.”

Discussions on palliative care, hospice, and advanced care planning hold significance in assuring that care aligns with individual values and preferences. Such conversations enable informed decision-making before emergencies arise, potentially reducing stress during medical urgencies and ensuring clarity during severe illnesses or end-of-life care.

Interested individuals can pre-register for the event by contacting Lilly Ferguson at (770) 776-7291 or via email at Lillian.ferguson@lifepointhealth.net.
